Movie of the Week! (2/3/13 - 2/9/13)

The Giant Mechanical Man (2012)

In what I'm assuming to be a MotW first, I'm selecting a movie that I haven't seen yet. The Giant Mechanical Man is a 2012 romantic comedy starring the always wonderful Jenna Fischer and the extremely prolific Chris Messina. This movie looks to have a lot of things going for it, but we'll all have to watch it and find out. As with all of the past MotW, The Giant Mechanical Man is available on Netflix Watch Instantly. I can't wait to see it and discuss it.

  1. So I saw the movie tonight. There was nothing ground-breaking here, but it was a highly enjoyable 1.5 hours. Jenna Fischer is supremely cute in the lead and Messina adds a lot of chemistry to the mix.

    1. I think you nailed it right on the head Josh. 'The Giant Mechanical Man' is a easy watch that had me grinning through out. I say grinning because I was not over whelmed with my level of enjoyment of it but I was satisfied to say the least. Its look at how relationships play into ones self worth may not have much depth to it but doesn't try to do much and gets its point across, an admirable accomplishment.
Yes, Jenna Fischer is adorable and this is the type of role she is meant to play but for me, Messina is the one that really stood out. His settle approach caused for a sincere, highly likable character. It has to be nice to know that if the acting thing goes south, he always has street performing to fall back on.

    2. It really was Messina's performance that stood out. The character was so likable. I can't imagine that he will be forced into street performances anytime soon, the guy is crushing it right now. One of the reasons why Fischer and Messina's characters were so likable was because the majority of the secondary characters were terrible people.

Grinning while watching it is the perfect expression and endorsement of The Giant Mechanical Man.
