Forget
being a good comic book adaption, Iron
Man is a wildly entertaining film in general. This can be credited to a
number of things but above all else there is a great character in Tony Stark
and performance that gives him life. Like the film, Tony Stark is cool and
extremely confident but deep down there is something much more compelling. Of
course though, without the suit, Stark can’t be Iron Man. Just like there can’t
be Tony Stark without Robert Downey Jr. Casted perfectly or not, Downey Jr. does
not allow the audience to think there is any other choice as he is as brilliant
as the mind of Stark. Downey Jr. as Tony Stark does arrogance without coming
off as annoying and emotionally shaken without coming off as sappy. It truly is
a performance that, like the film, is captivating from start to finish. Grade: A-
I'd give Iron Man an A. No movie of the last 5 years has had the impact on popular film that Iron Man has. The world was sick of super hero films before May 2008, by the time June rolled around, EVERYONE was back on board with them. That's how good Iron Man is. Robert Downey Jr.'s performance as the titular character is iconic and I don't think I've ever had more fun at a movie theater than the night I saw Iron Man.
