Shawgoes To The Movies
Welcome to Shawgoes To The Movies! With this blog,
I, Brad Shawgo will post movie reviews and articles. As long as I can remember,
I have always enjoyed trips to the movie theater and the satisfaction that a movie
can give. The first movie I ever saw in theaters was Honey I Blew Up the Kid when I was just 2 years of age.
Unfortunately, I cannot recall anything from this experience but it must have
been an enjoyable one because I have been hooked ever since.
Over the past five
years my interest in movies has become more than just enjoying being in a movie
theater or just watching a movie. I have found myself wanting to know more and
more about the rich history of movies and all aspects of them. I have also
become more interested in the affect movies have on us such as how they make us
feel and how they accomplish this. As these types of questions started to
accumulate and become much more frequent, I decided to start writing about them
and with that Shawgoes To The Movies is
born.
I will admit that I
could not do this alone though. I would like to thank Kathryn Stroud for the
advice she has given me concerning the technical aspects of writing. I would
also like to thank Josh Niederer who also has been kind enough to offer advice.
Josh is also the mastermind of the blogs title. Nick Shawgo is another
individual that deserves some recognition. Nick played a major role in helping
me set up this blog.
There are a few
features of this blog that I would like point out. At the end of the reviews I
post there will be a grade. This grade could be any of the following: A+, A-,
B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D, D-, F. Keep in mind though that the content in the
review is where you will find the most accurate description of my opinion and
thoughts about a movie and the grade that is given should be taken very
lightly. You will also find a comment section in this blog. One of the biggest reasons I started this
blog was to have a discussion about movies and hear others opinion so feel free
to comment as many times as you please. The only thing that I ask is that the
highest level of respect is given to other authors of a comment.
Glad to see you posting on here. Thanks for the shout out and I look forward to reading all of your reviews and articles. You better post some of your past movie marathon viewing schedules along with the date of the festival! I always enjoyed hearing about those.
ReplyDeleteThanks again Josh for your help. I've enjoyed our discussions concerning movies and entertainment over the past few years. Maybe someday we will actually write that screenplay. Starting to plan for 3 marathons for late December and early January (Christmas, New Years and Disney Classics). This years Disney Classic's Marathon will be headlined by the Blu-Ray edition of Cinderella. The New Years Marathon always consist of 4 films (all relating to a particular theme) in 2 days. Two years ago the theme was football and last year I watched all 4 Shrek films. I was thinking about a Will Smith theme for this year but that is not set in stone. Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteAh man, the Disney Classic's Marathon is going to be one for the ages. As for a suggestion for a theme, I have two:
ReplyDelete1. Heist Films
2. Mobster Movies
These two niche categories have no shortage of critically acclaimed classics and quite a few cult favorites waiting to be discovered. I'm certain that either of these two genres would generate a memorable viewing experience. I think a Will Smith themed marathon fits better with taking place in the summer than it would in the middle of winter. That's just personal preference though.
Both of those would make a great theme. Thanks for suggestions. I will consider both of those.
